You maybe a little taken aback by the content of this post as I am a person who despises most pop music, however, I have no right to refer to pop music as "bad" when a lot of people could call (and they have) the music I listen to "boring". I honestly could handle more top 40 songs if I didn't hear them a million times per day (Cough *Adele* Cough) but that is not the way radio stations work. Instead, either you succumb or you bolt out of the room or just listen to NPR all damn day like me.
Regardless, when I first started really exercising every day and trying to get my butt in gear, I found myself adding a little Beyonce to my workout play-list. Let me tell you, it worked! I would pop in a workout video and end up shaking my booty to her entire album "Bday" almost every time. Even Kyle couldn't resist! On his old mp3 player, he had two albums-one by the Offspring, and Beyonce. The best music to workout to is angry music, or music that makes you feel sexy, hands down.
Beyonce's music isn't just inspiring on it's own, the woman behind it gives it the extra little push. More times than I can count I would be just checking my email or paying a bill online and would find myself looking up one of her music videos. I know she is just a celebrity, but seeing this beautiful, strong, sexy woman smiling at you and dancing around, just made me want to get up and move around. I knew damn well that I would not look as awesome as her, but her music still made me feel like I could be sexy too. Rollerblading down the street while shaking my butt all over probably sent all kinds of wrong signals, but I felt sexy dammit.
It was impossible to narrow it down to just one song, and I didn't want to post ten videos on here that you guys would never watch, but I did pick one. I love this video, I think she looks awesome and of course anything slightly vintage, I am all-over. So say hello to the song of the day!

Its always great to have a certain voice to inspire those workouts. Plus she's an ace performer.
Wow, I'm so glad you posted about this.
Totally awesome Monday post!
Very inspiring. Glad this is the song of the day.
She is definitely inspiring. Such a wonderful voice.
Great Monday post. Hope you are having a good week.
I effing LOVE Beyonce! I too gravitate towards music that isn't on the radio stations, but something about that woman does me in. She's a fantastic performer, I always play her music when I'm putting my makeup on. Have you seen the live performance of her?

It's brilliant.
she looks stunning xx
Love Beyonce! Every time I listen to one of her songs, I just want to get up and dance. :)
I love the honesty in this post and I agree. I listen to pop music because of constant radio airplay. But listening to them isn't that bad, sometimes. Beyonce is such a good inspiration! Haha! She's not that skinny and she really has the right curves and of all celebrities, she doesn't have any photos of her getting wasted like the rest.
ive never been a pop radio girl but you're right, this music is the best to exercise. plus all the vintage lingerie of the vido makes it perfect! :)
hope you're ok there!
xoxo
nice post! check out my blog and if you like it we can follow each other xoxo
I'm not a fan of her but some of her works are good. I loved her in Cadillac records movies and also her voice

I don't think I have listened to Beyonce since her days with Destiny's Child. Definitely off to check out some of her tunes now! :)
Beyonce is great for working out. I completely agree that either angry music or music to make you feel sexy are the best to workout to. I will have Shakira playing and next thing you know it's Korn's Dead Bodies Everywhere song. My playlist is so random.
I'm not of those 'constantly on NPR people' so I'm frequently clueless about top 40 hits but I have been obsessed with this song/video for the past week or so.

We were just discussing how awesome Beyonce is this weekend. And that she only seems to be getting more talented. <3 her
I love her! But I get what you mean about totally not being into pop music, sometimes there's just better music out there that's not part of the top 40 :) haha!

Anything that makes you wiggle is awesome!
Dude! This happened to me too! I had my iPod shuffle all synched up with some "indie" tunes and then just felt like it wash;t cutting it at the gym. I'd basically skip over every song cause it wasn't "pop" enough to get me going.
So now, my playlist consists of A LOT of Beyonce, some Nicky Minaj (sp?) and then some other stuff like Florence & the machine which is also good workout music...but not as good as B.
Is it weird to just now be discovering Beyonce??
