Smile like you mean it

I am definitely a fall-ball but sometimes I really wish that I had a Summer birthday. This week was my friend Becky's birthday and she celebrated by having a picnic in the park. It was so cool, there were tons of junk food and people I hadn't seen in awhile and also new people that I got a chance to meet. Everyone was really nice and funny! Everyone was cracking jokes, or quoting YouTube videos, movies, and stand-up comics.
Then after we had enough BSing in the park, we migrated to one of my favorite places in Royal Oak, National Coney Island. They are all over the Metro Detroit area, actually there are Coney Islands all over the mitten, but this particular one is my favorite. We used to skip school and hangout there, or go there on half-days or after school, or homecoming, or before the next Harry Potter movie...you know, it's where we went. All the junk food you could ask for in one place, and typically you can be loud and move chairs around and all that jazz, they don't get mad. Our senior scavenger hunt ended at Nationals. I love having it here in Royal Oak, it's one place that never changes. Aside from the menus, they got new ones, and we yelled at them, but, alas, the food is the same.

Again I am wearing this awesome skirt from Ebs, and I have to send it on it's way now, you guys will know more about that hopefully pretty soon :) Here are the other two ways that I have worn it:

Summer birthdays are pretty awesome though I was always jealous of the kids that got to bring in cupcakes to school on their birthdays.

Living in another land, reading your post requires an interpreter. I'm guessing "mitten" is slang for Michigan. Correct?

And "Coney Island" -- is that slang for amusement park? We have the REAL Coney Island here (about 20 minutes from me); sadly, it belongs to an earlier age. It's deteriorated badly and inhabited mostly by drug-dealers and addicts. Although I did visit last year to eat at the oldest pizzeria in America.

Summer birthdays do sound fun; but fall is even better because you can invite people along to jump in oversized piles of leaves to celebrate! :P

I'm a winter baby myself - December 21!! :)

You rocked that skirt. Is the Coney Island like the one in Brooklyn or NY or wherever it is...? Love you, hope you had a grand weekend xoxo

I found a denim vest at a thrift store a few weeks ago for like $4 and have been wearing the crap out of it! I've found it works really well if you want to wear a sleeveless top/tank top when one wouldn't really be appropriate by itself in certain environments...the vest gives you enough coverage and adds extra style. I'm loving it!!
